At a glance
Life insurance without a medical exam, in one paragraph.
No medical exam life insurance in Canada is coverage you qualify for by answering health questions instead of taking a medical exam: no nurse visit, no blood work, no doctor’s note. It comes in two forms, simplified issue (a short health questionnaire) and guaranteed issue (no health questions at all), and it exists for the millions of Canadians who would be declined, rated or simply worn down by traditional underwriting. At Oneday, every product is no-medical and one 14-question application covers both routes: your answers place you in the strongest offer we can make, from full coverage on day one up to $500,000, down to a guaranteed-acceptance offer of up to $50,000 that no health answer can take away. Every applicant aged 18 to 80 in the seven provinces we serve receives an offer, your price is shown before you pay anything, and the decision arrives within 24 hours.

How it works
What replaces the exam.
A traditional application sends a paramedical nurse to your kitchen for blood, urine and sometimes an EKG, then requests records from your doctor and waits three to eight weeks. A no-exam application replaces all of that with questions you can answer from memory.
The questionnaire is the underwriting
Fourteen health questions in plain language plus your height and weight. Say yes to something and we ask a follow-up instead of failing you. After you apply we check the MIB, an industry database of previously disclosed conditions, in the background. It needs nothing from you.
Your answers set the shape of the offer
Healthier answers unlock the larger amounts (up to $500,000 to age 70, $150,000 from 71 to 80), the 10-, 20- and 30-year terms, and full coverage from day one at our best pricing. More complicated answers mean a smaller maximum ($350,000, then $100,000 as permanent coverage), a higher price and a 24-month deferral. The toughest answers still land in our guaranteed-acceptance offer: permanent coverage up to $50,000 (to age 50) or $25,000 (51 to 80), with the same deferral. The one thing your answers never decide is whether you get an offer.
Price now, decision within 24 hours
Your price is on the page before you commit to anything, locked to today’s age. The decision arrives within 24 hours, and coverage can start as soon as your first premium is paid. Policy documents arrive by email.

How much does no medical exam life insurance cost in Canada?
Most sites make you fill in a form to see a number. Here are real Oneday prices for a 10-year term, straight from our calculator, for someone whose answers qualify for full coverage from day one.
| Coverage | Age 35 | Age 45 | Age 55 |
|---|---|---|---|
| $100,000 | $20.00 | $20.00 | $41.04 |
| $250,000 | $27.68 | $45.45 | $98.55 |
| $500,000 | $52.65 | $88.20 | $194.40 |
Rates shown are illustrative: female non-smoker, age nearest birthday, 10-year term, Prime tier, including the $30 annual policy fee. $20.00 is the minimum monthly premium. Not an offer of insurance, your rate is confirmed during the application, before any payment is taken. Underwritten by Humania Assurance Inc. The four tiers are explained on our products page.
What moves the price
Your age at application (rates rise on every birthday and are set by age nearest birthday), sex, smoking status, the coverage amount and term, and your health answers. For the same $100,000 at 55, healthier answers are $41.04 per month and a more complicated history is $65.52.
Why no-exam can cost more, and when it doesn’t
Per dollar of coverage, no-exam pricing is usually above a fully underwritten policy for a young, healthy applicant, because the insurer knows less about you. For a complicated file it is often the cheaper route: the alternative is a rated or declined application after weeks of waiting. At these amounts the gap is often small.
Paying less
Apply before your next half-birthday, go twelve months tobacco-free for non-smoker rates, and size the coverage to the job with the DIME method. Our guide to what life insurance costs at 55 walks through the full curve.
Three ways to apply
Simplified issue vs guaranteed issue vs a medical exam.
All no-medical coverage in Canada comes in two flavours, and both sit next to the traditional exam route. You never have to pick one at Oneday, your answers place you in the strongest option automatically.
| Simplified issue | Guaranteed issue | Fully underwritten | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Medical exam | No | No | Yes: blood, urine, often a doctor’s report |
| Health questions | A short set (14 at Oneday) | None in the market; at Oneday the same 14, but no answer can remove the offer | Detailed, plus records |
| Decision time | Minutes to days (within 24 hours at Oneday) | Same day | Three to eight weeks |
| Typical coverage | Up to $500,000 (Oneday: $5,000 to $500,000 depending on answers and age) | Smaller amounts, often $5,000 to $50,000 (Oneday: up to $50,000 to age 50, $25,000 from 51) | Largest amounts |
| Typical ages | 18 to 80 at Oneday | Often 40 to 75 elsewhere; 18 to 80 at Oneday | Usually 18 to 70 |
| Waiting period | Sometimes a 24-month deferral, depending on answers | Usually a 24-month deferral on natural-cause death | None |
| Price per dollar | Competitive; higher for complicated answers | Highest | Lowest if you pass; rated or declined if not |
| Who it suits | Most people with a health history who want speed and certainty | Complicated files, or anyone declined everywhere else | Very healthy applicants with time, wanting very large amounts |
Simplified issue
A short set of health questions, no exam. Typically offers higher coverage amounts at lower premiums. At Oneday this is the 14-question route, and it is where most applicants land, even with conditions like diabetes: up to $500,000 with the healthiest answers. How simplified issue works.
Guaranteed issue
In the market, guaranteed issue means no health questions and acceptance for anyone in the age range. At Oneday you do not apply for it separately: the same 14 questions place you, and if every other offer is ruled out, the guaranteed offer is still there, no health answer can take it away. It is permanent coverage up to $50,000 (to age 50) or $25,000 (51 to 80), with a 24-month deferral. Our guaranteed issue page explains it, and this guide covers how it works across the market.
Exact coverage amounts, term lengths, and your price are confirmed during the application, before you commit to anything, and before any payment is taken.
The honest part
What you trade for skipping the exam.
No-medical coverage is a deliberate trade: speed and certainty in exchange for some limits. Here they are, plainly.
What you gain
No clinic visits, no waiting weeks for lab results, and no risk of a decline letter after all of it. You apply on your phone, see your real price with no email wall, and get a decision within 24 hours.
Coverage caps and deferrals
No-medical policies top out lower than fully underwritten ones ($500,000 here with the healthiest answers, $50,000 on the guaranteed-acceptance offer), and depending on your answers a 24-month deferral can apply: accidents are covered in full from day one, and if death from natural causes occurs in the first 24 months, every premium paid is returned to your beneficiary. Full explanation here.
Price, honestly
You pay for speed and simplicity. If you are in excellent health, a traditional insurer with a medical exam will likely beat our price, and you should take it. If your health file is complicated, we are likely your best yes.

Start my applicationWho it’s for
Built for the people other insurers avoid.
Blood pressure medication, cholesterol, diabetes, a heart event years ago, a cancer you beat, a decline letter in a drawer: these are the files we built Oneday for. Here is what to expect, condition by condition.
Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes
Stable, treated Type 2 often lands near standard pricing. Type 1, insulin or complications can mean a higher price or a smaller amount, never a no. No A1C printout required. Life insurance with diabetes in Canada.
Declined before
A large share of our customers were told no elsewhere first. A past decline does not follow you here; we ask our own questions and make our own offer. What to do after a decline.
Heart or cancer history
Recent events usually mean a smaller maximum and a 24-month deferral; older, treated events and several years of remission often do better than people expect. Life insurance for cancer survivors.
Blood pressure, cholesterol, weight
Treated and stable is routine and rarely changes the offer on its own. Higher weight moves the price, not the yes. Life insurance with high cholesterol.
Over 55
Applications to age 80, permanent options that stay for life, and real published prices at 55. Life insurance at 55 and over.
Anxiety, depression, other conditions
Treated and stable is routine; a recent hospital stay can change the amount or add a deferral. Everything else we ask about is on the diagnosed-conditions page and in life insurance with pre-existing conditions.
Smokers
Smoking raises the price and never removes the offer. Twelve months tobacco-free usually earns non-smoker rates.
Healthy, busy, or done with gatekeeping
Self-employed, no group benefits, or just no time for a nurse visit? Skip the exam entirely and still be covered this week. Parents start here. If you are very healthy and want a very large amount, a fully underwritten policy will likely beat our price, and you should take it.

Your options in Canada
Where Oneday sits among the no-exam options.
No-exam coverage is sold by banks, traditional insurers and online insurers, and the products are not interchangeable. By type, not by brand:
| Option | Typical coverage | Typical ages | Waiting period | Decision |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bank and insurer guaranteed-acceptance plans | Small amounts, often $5,000 to $50,000 | Often 40 to 75 | Usually 24 months | Same day |
| Simplified issue sold through advisors | Higher caps | Varies | Sometimes | Days |
| Online exam-free term for healthy applicants | High caps | Usually under 60 | None | Minutes, but an exam can still be triggered by your answers |
| Oneday (all products no-medical, one questionnaire) | $5,000 to $500,000; guaranteed-acceptance offer up to $50,000 | 18 to 80, everyone gets an offer | None with healthier answers; 24 months with a more complicated history | Price immediately, decision within 24 hours |
Market ranges are typical, not a quote from any named company, and change over time. Oneday figures are current. Real Canadians rate us 4.9/5 on Reviews.io; read the reviews.
Before you buy any no-exam policy
Seven questions to ask, here or anywhere.
Is there a deferral, and how long?
Oneday: none with healthier answers; 24 months on natural-cause death with a more complicated history, accidents covered from day one.
Is the premium level?
Oneday: yes. Once approved, your price is locked for the full term and never rises because your health changes.
Is the term renewable or convertible?
Oneday: term policies renew and convert to age 70 and end at 80. Everyone qualifies for a permanent option that stays for life.
What is the maximum age, and the maximum amount?
Oneday: applications to 80, and every applicant 18 to 80 receives an offer. Maximums depend on your answers and age: up to $500,000 with the healthiest answers, $50,000 on the guaranteed-acceptance offer.
What if I quit smoking?
Twelve months tobacco-free usually earns non-smoker rates. Ask how the insurer handles a change.
How are claims paid?
A tax-free lump sum to your named beneficiary. How payouts work and how claims work.
Who is the insurer behind the policy?
Always ask. Ours is named in the FAQ below. And size the amount with how much life insurance do I need.
No-medical FAQ
The questions everyone asks.
Can you really get life insurance in Canada without a medical exam?
Yes. No medical exam life insurance is sold across Canada as simplified issue (health questions, no exam) and guaranteed issue (no health questions at all). At Oneday there is no exam, no blood work and no doctor’s note for any applicant aged 18 to 80, at any coverage amount from $5,000 to $500,000, in the seven provinces we serve.
How much does no medical exam life insurance cost in Canada?
At Oneday, $100,000 of 10-year term is $20.00 per month at 35 and 45 and $41.04 at 55; $250,000 is $27.68, $45.45 and $98.55; $500,000 is $52.65, $88.20 and $194.40 (female non-smoker, healthier answers, including the $30 annual policy fee). Men, smokers and more complicated health histories pay more, and you see your exact price before any payment is taken.
Is no medical life insurance more expensive than a policy with an exam?
Per dollar of coverage it can be, for a young, healthy applicant who would sail through an exam, because the insurer knows less about you. For people with a health history it is often the cheaper route, because the alternative is a rated or declined application after weeks of waiting. If you are in excellent health and want a very large amount, a fully underwritten policy will likely beat our price, and you should take it.
What health questions do I have to answer?
Fourteen plain-language questions about your health history (for example diabetes, heart conditions, cancer, blood pressure, mental health, tobacco use and recent hospital stays) plus your height and weight. Say yes to something and we ask a follow-up instead of failing you. No lab results, no A1C printout, no records to dig up.
Can I be declined for no medical exam life insurance?
Not at Oneday. There is no decline letter here: every applicant aged 18 to 80 in a province we serve receives an offer. Tougher health answers change which offer you land in, the amount, the price and whether a 24-month deferral applies, never whether you get a yes; the floor is a guaranteed-acceptance permanent policy of up to $50,000. Some other insurers can still decline a no-medical application under their own rules.
How long does approval take?
The application takes about ten minutes, your price is shown immediately, and a decision arrives within 24 hours. After you apply we check the MIB, an industry database that flags previously disclosed conditions, in the background. It needs nothing from you. Fully underwritten policies that require an exam and records typically take three to eight weeks.
Is there a waiting period before my family is covered?
Sometimes. If your health history is more complicated, your offer may start with a 24-month deferral on natural-cause death: accidental death is covered in full from day one, and if death from natural causes happens in the first 24 months, every premium paid is returned to your beneficiary. After 24 months the full amount is payable for any cause. Healthier answers get full coverage from day one, no deferral.
Can I get no medical life insurance if I have diabetes?
Yes. Type 1 and Type 2 both receive an offer, whether you manage it with diet, pills or insulin, and there is no A1C test, no blood work and no doctor’s letter. Your answers shape the amount, the price and whether a deferral applies. Our guide to life insurance with diabetes in Canada goes factor by factor.
Can I get no medical life insurance if I have been declined before?
Yes. A decline with another company reflects that company’s rules and does not affect your application here. A large share of Oneday customers were told no somewhere else first. We ask our own 14 questions and make our own offer.
What is the maximum age for no medical exam life insurance in Canada?
Age limits vary by insurer, and many guaranteed-acceptance plans stop taking applications in the mid-seventies. Oneday accepts applications from age 18 to age 80, and every applicant in that range receives an offer. Term coverage renews and converts to age 70 and ends at 80; everyone qualifies for a permanent option that stays for life.
Can smokers get no medical exam life insurance?
Yes. Smoking is one of the 14 questions and it raises the price, but it never removes the offer. Twelve months tobacco-free usually earns non-smoker rates, the largest single discount in life insurance.
Which provinces is no medical exam life insurance available in?
Oneday is available in seven provinces: Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. We do not currently serve Quebec, Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island or the territories.
Who underwrites my Oneday policy?
Oneday TPA Inc. is a third-party administrator. Every policy we issue is underwritten by Humania Assurance Inc., a Canadian life insurer founded in 1874.
